NBA Issues Two Fines! Drummond’s “Shooting Gesture” + Suggs’ “Mouthguard Toss” Each Fined $25,000

Drummond: Three-Point Celebration Turns into “Shooting Taunt”

In the 76ers’ 139-118 road victory over the Kings, Drummond made a shooting gesture toward the Kings’ bench after hitting a three-pointer. He finished the game 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, recording 13 points and 11 rebounds. James Jones, Executive Vice President of NBA Basketball Operations, determined the gesture to be an “obscene gesture” and issued the fine. Drummond has played 52 games this season, averaging 6.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.

Suggs: Mouthguard Thrown into Stands

In the Magic’s road loss to the Hornets, Suggs threw his mouthguard into the stands with 5:35 remaining in the first quarter after disputing a call, receiving a technical foul on the spot. The league subsequently issued a $25,000 fine.

As the No. 5 pick in the 2021 draft, Suggs is averaging 13.8 points, 5.2 assists, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.9 steals per game this season, and was previously named to the All-Defensive Second Team. During the 2024 offseason, he signed a five-year, $150.5 million rookie max extension with the Magic. The fine amounts to pocket change for him.
